In past years, The Paco & Lola Winery has been consolidating a continuous and sustainable growth in its production and trading of wines in both national and international markets, which must go with a project that guarantees the sustainability and viability of its winegrowers’ farms.
Paco & Lola ‘s vineyards comprise more than 250 hectares spred over 2000 plots , a reflection of the small farms and smallholdings typical of Galicia and in particular of the Val do Saln s. With its activity, Paco & Lola, é supports the socio-economic sustainability of the territory where it is based, giving support and continuity for the future to the viticultural activity of the region and the daily work of a large number of cooperative members. In this scenario, there is an increasing demand from our winegrowers for an external provision of services, mainly by older winegrowers, who can not keep the management of the vineyards, but also by new owners who cannot deal with the farms because of their lack of availability.
For this reason, Paco & Lola has just made available to its viticulturists the Agricultural Services of the Cooperative for the protection of the vineyard and the management and maintenance of the soil of those viticulturists who need it and with the expectation of increasing both services and area in future campaigns to manage.
In order to offer this service, the winery bought the following equipment in 2021: 1 tractor, 2 application equipment and 1 crusher-brushcutter, which had a grant from the Provincial Council of Pontevedra for a total amount of € 25,820.91 in the call for grants aimed at agricultural cooperatives of the province of Pontevedra for investments during the financial year 2021.
These services are part of Paco & Lola’s strategy of transitioning to a productive model for the future that faces challenges such as: adaptation and mitigation to climate change, a commitment to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly viticultural model, modernization of production through mechanization and digitization, transition to a circular production model with the use and valorization of by-products, facilitating access to training and demonstration for winegrowers, promoting the professionalization and incorporation of young people who guarantee the generational replacement and the sustainability of the long-medium -term
